The P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund was established in 1907 as a revolving fund that would lend money to worthy women students to assist them in securing a higher education. Since its inception more than $76,300,000 has been loaned to more than 38,000 women. Applicants must be sponsored by a local chapter.
Cottey College, in Nevada, Missouri, was founded in 1884 and has been owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1927. Cottey is a fully accredited liberal arts college for women, providing its students with quality education, leadership opportunities and cultural experiences.
The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship fund was established in 1949 to provide scholarships for international students who wished to pursue graduate study in the United States and Canada, and to encourage peace through education and understanding. To date, over 4,500 women from 152 countries have received nearly $15,000,000.
The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the United States and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and their families. This project has awarded more than $18,000,000 in small grants to more than 20,000 women. Applicants are recommended and sponsored by P.E.O. chapters.
The P.E.O.
